APC Stalwarts back Akande-led reconciliation Committee, say Obaseki re-election not negotiable


All Progressives Congress (APC) Stalwarts across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State on Tuesday commended President Muhammadu for setting up the reconciliation Committee led by Chief Bisi Akande to midwife the crisis rocking the party.

A pressure group, Obaseki Shaibu Movement (OSM) in APC made this known in a Communique on Tuesday in Benin City, ahead of the Governorship election in Edo State.

OSM also passed vote of confidence on the Governor, Godwin Obaseki and Phip Shaibu Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, adding that their re-election was not negotiable despite the increasingly hostility in the State Chapter of the party.

The State Commissioner for Youths and Special Duties in Edo State, Mr Damian Lawani disclosed this in a Communiqué issued by the group in Benin City.

Lawani who read the Communiqué expressed hope that “the wisdom and leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari has displayed in setting up the APC National reconciliation Committee would be applied in the conduct of the forthcoming general election in Edo State, the Gubernatorial primaries and other States affected in the areas of elections.

“OSM believes strongly in the leadership of governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt Hon. Philip Shaibu in Edo and because they have performed creditably well, their second term is not negotiable”, he said.

TheNewspad reports that the Committee has twelve members and has former Interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, as the Chairman.

Others are Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani Bello, Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, Senate Leader, Senator Yahaya Abdullahi Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

Also on the list are former Borno State Governor, Sen. Kashim Shettima, Minister of State for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor, Alh. Nasiru Aliko Koki, Sen. Khairat Gwadabe-Abdulrazak and Sen. Binta Garba while Sen. John Enoh will act as the Secretary of the Committee which was billed to be inaugurated on Tuesday, February 2020 at the APC National Secretariat.
