The All Progressives Congress (APC) says it expelled a former Deputy Chief Whip of the House Representatives, Hon. Pally Iriase from the party for anti-party activities.

It cited the Disciplinary report set up to investigate complaints against him which was jointly signed by the Chairman of APC Ward 09, Owan East Local Government Area, Mr Ifiabor Olawole and Secretary, Mr Omoruonzoje Peter dated January 2018.

The Committee report was upheld by the Chairman of APC, Owan East Local Government Area of the State, Mr Theophilus Aigboje and the Secretary, Mr Egbokhare along with five other executives dated February 27, 2019 and addressed to the National Chairman and the State governor and the Deputy Governor.

The Committee, which derived its powers from Article 21 of APC Constitution as amended in 2018 especially Section C 1(g) drew conclusion after it discovered that Pally Iriase has allgedly sponsored one of his aides in the February 23rd 2019 State House of Assembly election on the platform of Peoples Democratic party against the the APC.

Addressing newsmen on Thursday in Benin City, a Chieftain of APC in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr Sufiyanu Igbafen said, Hon. Pally Iriase lacks the authority to speak on behalf of the APC haven been expelled from the party.

Igbafen, former Special Adviser to former governor, Adams Oshiomhole on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs’ declaration, followed a vile press criticisms by Hon. Pally Iriase, requesting governor Godwin Obaseki to account for the sum of N250 billion he has received from the federal government in the past three years.

The APC Chieftain in retaliation, challenged the former Legislator to account for the Constituency funds that he collected while he represented Owan Federal Constituency for Eight years across the 22 Wards and abandoned road project and Public Health facility in Otuo in Owan East Local Government Area of the State.

Igbafen who expressed surprise over the misleading claims by the former lawmaker, said, “He (Pally Iriase) is taking the fight too far due to his personal greed. He is warning up as usual of him to remain in office.

“Since 1999 Pally Iriase has enjoyed party patronage. Once a position is not in his favour, he rather prefer the system to be turned upside down”, he said.

But, in his reaction, Hon. Pally Iriase, said, “The issues are beyond pedestrian name calling and personal attacks please.

“I gave figures of monthly receipts from November 2016 to November 2019, making three years assessment. I gave the credible sources of those figures. It is already in the public domain. 

“In reply from official sources, we are told that 2,000km of roads have been constructed. People are asking where and which roads are they talking about?

“They point at renovation of Secretariat building. People are asking for how much?.

“I’m very sad that governance has been reduced to such a low level that an unknown fellow, who is not an official spokesman, will be procured and mobilised by Edo State government to go on personal attack on the weighty issues raised by me. I won’t indulge in gutter fight”, he said.
