The Nigeria police have recorded five deaths in the gas explosion that occurred in the Sabon Tasha area of Kaduna State on Saturday.

Spokesman for the Kaduna police Command, Yakubu Sabo revealed this in a statement after a prelimiting assessment of the tragedy.
He said two of those killed were burnt beyond recognition while four persons, who sustained various degree of injuries in the incident, are currently receiving treatment at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital, Kaduna.
“Today (Saturday) at about 1545hrs, the Command received information through DPO Sabon Tasha that a Gas Cylinder has exploded at a Gas Refilling Shop which resulted in the death of Five persons (two of which are beyond recognition) while four others sustained various degree of injuries. The impact of the incident affected three other adjoining shops of different businesses,” the statement said.


Sabo explained that a team of detectives had been dispatched to the scene on rescue mission and further investigation.
He did not disclose the identities of those killed in the disaster.
TheNewspad had reported that no fewer than 15 shops were razed as a result of the explosion while relatives of the injured victims have began to search for missing persons who were caught up by the tragedy.
