The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has implored the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to support the re-election of Edo State governor Godwin Obaseki’s re-election bid in “the interest of peace and the party”.
The call was contained in a mediation report of Edo State Chapter of CAN on the face-off between the former State governor Oshiomhole and his successor governor, Godwin Obaseki.

The State Chairman of CAN, Bishop Oriname Oyonnude Kure who read the report of the separate meeting with the duo held on November 3, 2019, urged Oshiomhole to reciprocate Governor Obaseki’s support during his tenure of the National Chairman of APC as Governor of Edo State for Eight years.
“In the light of the above, we therefore enjoin Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to support the seating Governor as he also supported his administration for Eight years by putting his party machinery together to the best of his ability within the limit of the law to bring the house (APC party, Edo State) together for its unity in the interest of the peace of the State and in the interest of his party, APC to ensure continuity of the administration of the Administration of Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki in the art of Governance of Edo State…”
Kure in the report which was also endorsed by the State Secretary of CAN, Sir Humphrey Best Iriabe, said Obaseki has painstakingly demonstrated that since his election in 2016, was not misplaced, following the overwhelming support of the electorate and his successor.
“We humbly appeal to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in the name of the lord Jesus Christ for the sake of the destiny of the State which he (Oshiomhole) has laboured tirelessly for, to kindly put aside whatever may have caused the imbroglio”, he said.
He appealed to Adams Oshiomhole “not to allow a few individuals soil the good name and legacy he has so enhanced on the chronicles of achievers and builders of Edo land.
According to the report, these ” Heroic robe that is now upon you, by reason of your mighty works in Edo land, nothing should be allowed to remove it from you”.
He stated further that Edo people and CAN under his watch are pleased with the performance of governor Obaseki achievements, adding that his government has not betray the confidence reposed in him.
The report, condemned the recent attack on some personalities in Nigeria by loyalists of the major actors in the feud rocking the APC.
