Edo Queens Football Club technical team has commenced screening for both senior and junior female the 2019/2020 Nigeria Women Football League season at the club’s training ground in Benin- City the Edo State Capital.

Technical Adviser of the team Gabriel Adejor on Thursday said the screening is mainly to boost the team in readiness for the 2019/2020 NWFL season.
He maintained that he was particularly happy with the turnout of players for the exercise, adding that more experienced player grade A players are still expected for the one week screening programme.
“The purpose of this exercise is for us to boost up our team in preparation for the task ahead. People think that calling for screening of players means that we do not have players on ground no, we have good players, but we also need to shop for more players that are extremely good to combine with the ones we already have.
“The State government has directed us to recruit results oriented players to join the ones we have.
Again we are also screening female players for the senior and junior team, by the through with the exercise, anyone that could not make the senior team would be ask to join the junior female side.”
“It is no longer news that Edo State female team league players are the highest paid in Nigeria, we need to put in everything within us to get good results. And every female league player wants to come and play for Edo Queens FC which is good for us.
“But I want to say that it is only those players who are able to meet our standard that will be taken to wear our playing kits. I’m happy with the response of players to our screening, we have also invited a good number of professional league players, so that is a sound warning to some of our players who are already in the team and think that they have arrived, they must brace up because with the caliber of players that are showing up for this exercise is going to be a tough battle you must fight vigorously for shirts.
“We are looking at a total of 35 solid players out of these numbers, 25 will make up the senior team why others will go to the junior side. Our target for this season is laurels. We have also lined up a number of friendly matches with other state teams.
“So from January 2020 before the commencement of the league Edo Queens will be going through tough training programme. I want to thank the state government for all their supports, and I confess that Edo Queens have never had it so fine, so we promise that we would not put them to shame.”
