I’m not in Edo PDP Chairmanship race, says Onolememen

.

A former Nigeria minister of works, Chief Mike Onolememen, has said that he has no intention to contest for the Chairmanship position of Edo State Chapter of the party in the forthcoming Congresses, citing strategic reasons.

He said that embarking on such an expedition was in conflict with his firm belief and support for Ubiaja declaration of October 27, 2019 by the entire Esan; where it was resolved to appeal to the other Senatorial district to consider Edo Central for the Governorship position in the State.

The Director General of Esan Ambassadors, Mr Tony Okonigene, made this known in a Press release issued on behalf Chief Mike Onolememen, the Adolor of Uromi.

He said denial was in response to rumours making the rounds that he is interested in the position.

Onolememen recalled that as one of the prominent Esan leaders of thought who midwife “Ubiaja declaration” and agreed that Edo Central Senatorial district (Esanland) should produce Edo State PDP Governorship Candidate in 2020″.

According to Mr Okonigene, “it is therefore a smack of mischief that Onolememen will be taking any step to scuttle this movement” by supporting such a toxic alliance that can undermine the collective interest of the people.

The former minister who urged Edo people and his kinsmen not to give vent to such a malicious rumour making the rounds, stressed that he cannot afford to rip off the rules of the peaceful accord.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Chief Dr Mike Onolememen wishes to make it clear that he does not have and does not intend to have such an ambition. Contesting for the PDP state chairmanship position is in total conflict with his firm believe and support for the Esan Agenda 2020.

“Recall that Chief Dr Mike Onolememen was among the prominent Esan leaders that made the Ubiaja declaration where it was agreed that Edo Central (Esan) should produce the governorship candidate of the party, come 2020. It is therefore a smack of mischief and unthinkable that he will be taking any step to scuttle this movement.

“The faithful members of our great party the PDP, friends and well wishers of Chief Mike Onolememen, are therefore urged to disregard any insinuation linking him to the State Chairmanship position of the party and beware of dubious individuals who would want to capitalize on this satanic lie from the pit of hell to cause disaffection in the party”, the Press release said.
