Ebonyi govt bans use of explosives after fireworks deform Student

Ebonyi State governor, Mr David Umahi has banned the use of explosives in the State, few days after an object suspected to be an improvised explosive device exploded and amputated the left hand of a student of Glory Land High School, Azugwu, in Ebonyi Local Government Area of the State.

He said any dealer or individual caught with fireworks before, during and after the yuletide Celebrations would be arrested and prosecutes by the police.

The device which exploded during break hour, Thursday, according to sources within the school, shattered the left arm of an SS 2 student simply identified as Chibuike while undisclosed number of students sustained various degree of injuries.

The incident which happened at about 11 am caused serious confusion and panic within the school and its vicinity.
