Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDTMA) has inducted 40 Mayors (Traffic Volunteers) to ease traffic across Benin Metropolis and complement the efforts of existing 120 Mayors in the State.

President, EDTMA Mayor, Mr Emmanuel Onimhawo during the First Anniversary/Induction of new Mayors and investiture of honorary Mayors at the Weekend in Benin City, described the task before the newly inducted Mayors and investiture of honorary Mayors as daunting, interesting, expository and challenging.
He reiterated that a Mayor is a voluntary assignment, but governed by rules and regulations.
Onimhawo, urged the leadership of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and EDTMA to assist EDTMA Mayors with communication gadgets and kits to enable the volunteers perform their assignment diligently.
He also urged the inductees to be focus and be selfless and be Civil in discharging their duties.

“For those men and women who have remained focus and resolute to this cause, I dough my cap. We are already getting at something and very soon, people will be willing to offer anything to belong to EDTMA Mayor.
“For those who fell by the wayside in our early days, may I encourage them to rise and take up the gauntlet”, he said.
He further charge the honorary Mayors and distinguished awardees to show commitment and remain good Ambassadors of the body.
Earlier in a remark, the Managing Director, Edo State Traffic Management Agency (EDTMA), Mr Dennis Oloriegbe, said the EDTMA Mayors had been fantastic since their operation began in the State over a year ago.
Oloriegbe whose In his goodwill message to the occasion was delivered by Mr Macaulay Osamwonyi, urged road users particularly commuters to respect and cooperate with the Mayors.
According to him, the conduct of most drivers have being a source of concern to road users and the Agency.
“Drivers should learn to over traffic rules and regulations because a driver who leaves home and return back safely is a driver”, he said.
Responding on behalf of the newly inducted EDTMA Mayors, Mr Solomon Ehikhenme, thanked the body and promised to be loyal and diligent in his assignment.
