A notorious armed robber who killed a policeman when he led members of his gang to attack a popular hotel in Abia State State in November 2019, has been shot dead by police operatives.

The killing of the robbery suspect identified as Samson Nwokocha who is also known as “Grave”, led to spontaneous jubilation in Umuahia, Abia State Capital on Tuesday.
Hundreds of people in umuahia, besieged the police headquarters at Bende Road Umuahia trying to catch a glimpse of the corpse of the bandit which was laid on the ground.
Briefing journalists on the incident that led to his death, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Police Command, Mr. Ene Okon stated that the suspect, an ex-convict, had been on the police watch list for some time following his numerous activities.
He alleged that the robbery kingpin was trailed and gunned down by operatives of the command in his hideout following a tip-off on Tuesday.
He recalled how the hoodlum and members of his gang on November 6 and November 10, 2019, killed a policeman attached to a popular hotel, robbed Staff and Guest in the hotel and fled.
The tragedy, according to the police boss to intensify search on him.
According to him, “The same November 10, 2019, Nwokocha and his gang robbed attendants and customers of Forte Oil Service filling station on Bank Road Umuahia.
“On different occasions, he led a gang that snatched vehicles from their owners within and outside the Capital City at gunpoint”, he disclosed.
Sa’ad Okon: “The suspect also robbed Oceanic Foods, Superlative Oil, God Is Good Motors and had also planned to attack the Correctional Service Centre, Umuahia (Nigerian Prisons) in order to free his mother and other people serving various prison terms”.
Okon warned that the police will continue to engage and dislodge criminals in the state in their hideouts.
