The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Smart Adeyemi as the winner of the Kogi West senatorial election in the State.

INEC returned Senator Adeyemi as the winner of the election having polled 88,373 votes ahead of Senator Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 62,133 votes.
The supplementary poll was conducted following the November 16 election which was declared inconclusive declared by INEC.
TheNewspad reports that Senator Adeyemi will replace Senator Melaye as the lawmaker representing Kogi West senatorial district in the 9th National Assembly.
Meanwhile, police hav arrested some gunmen for preventing electorate from voting during Saturday supplementary poll in Kogi West Senatorial district of Kogi State.
The hoodlums were said to be working for a particular politician in in the election and undermine the credibility of the poll.

Assorted rifles and other ammunition were allegedly recovered from them, according to security sources.
