Woman kills son while awaiting divorce

A jealous housewife, Mrs. Rukayat Abdulrahmon, has allegedly killed her three-year-old Child, following threat by her husband, Mr Raheem who had approached a Sharia Court in the State for divorce. The incident happen at the Olorunosebi Community at Kola Balogun area of Osogbo, in Osun State on Sunday, November 17, in Oshogbo, Osun State Capital.

who had approached a Sharia Court in the State for divorce.

The incident happen at the Olorunosebi Community at Kola Balogun area of Osogbo, in Osun State on Sunday, November 17, in Oshogbo, Osun State Capital.

It was gathered that the deceased, Ganiyu, was the only child she had for her husband, the third in her marital history before the sudden turn of events.

TheNewspad gathered that the court gave the Couple three months to either divorce each other resolve their differences.

But five days to the expiration of the 90 days given by the court, middle-aged Rukayat, according to Daily Independent, was said to have her son into a well and killed the Child.

Residents in the Community had woken up to the cries of the Couple searching for the deceased, whom they claimed slept in the same room with them.

It was gathered that their neighbours joined in the search for the missing Child whose lifeless body was found in a well by a neighbour who wanted to fetch water for laundry from the well.

The sad incident attracted the attention of neighbours who quickly jumped into the well to retrieve the body, hoping that he might be resuscitated, but it was late as the body was recovered lifeless.

Already, the State police Command, has confirmed the arrest of the parents of the Child along with other occupants at the residence.

Contacted, the 2 I/C police Public Relations Officer of Osun Police Command, Mustapha Katayeyanjue, confirmed the incident, saying the woman (Rukayat) was cooperating with the police.
