Obasanjo makes shocking revelation about PDP, Anenih, Ogbemudia, others

A former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has declared that the fortunes of Peoples Democratic party dipped after the deaths of the former National Chairman and Chief Tony Anenih, former Governor of the defunct Bendel State, Brig-Gen. While describing late Chief Anenih and Brig-Gen. Ogemudia as two among the three pillars of PDP in Edo State, the former Nigerian leader, paid tribute to Chief Gabriel Igbinedion for becoming “the only surviving pillar of PDP in the State” with a charge to build bridges on unity.

Obasanjo said this a fourth night ago at the 85th Thanksgiving service of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin at Saint Gabriel The ArchAngel Catholic church in Benin City.

“The PDP is standing on three pillars. Unfortunately, two of the pillars in Edo are gone, remaining one…Esama of Benin is the only surviving pillar of PDP in Edo State”, he said.

“It is a great pleasure to be here to celebrate with Esama on his 85th Birthday. 85 years is not a joke in Nigeria, considering the ills that are plaguing the nation”

Obasanjo also commended the Octogenarian for securing a future for his Children and investment in Education, which he described as the greatest legacy he will forever be remembered for.

“One of the most important thing Esama will be remembered for is not building and donating a church and taking care of the downtrodden, but, investment in Education.

Chief Tony Anenih died 28 October 2018 at the age of 85 while Brig-Gen. Samuel Ogbemudia, passed on March 9, 2017 at the age of 84.

The Benin monarch, Oba Ewuare, II who was represented by Chief Eduwu Ekhator (The Obasogie of Benin), and Chief H. Bazuaye (The Aiwerioghene of Benin) who were accompanied by Chief Sam Igbe, the Iyase (Prime minister of Benin) to the event.

A former Senate Deputy president, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu, former Senate Whip, Sent. Rowland Owie, Mr Parry Osayande, Deputy Inspector-General of police (Rted), former minister of Industry, Mrs Nike Akande, and former minister of Science and technology, Prof. Emmanuel Emmanuel Emovoen.

Others are Sen. Matthew Urhoghide, representing Edo South Senatorial district, Prince Sunny Omatseye and the Lafin of Oyo, the Ooni of Ife sent goodwill messages.

Also in attendance is The Vice-Chancellor, University of Benin (UNIBEN), Prof. Faraday Orumwense flanked by his wife, Mrs Francisca Orumwense led members of the Governing Council of the ivory tower at the event.
