Enugu gov speaks from ‘kidnappers den’

Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Monday fired a dart from the Umuogbua Ihe tunnel on Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway by Awgu Local Government Area against kidnappers. While at the tunnel which serves as a hide-out and escape route for kidnappers operating in the area, the governor, ordered the immediate demolition of Agbogugu and Isu-Awaa-Agbudu caves

Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Monday fired a dart from the Umuogbua Ihe tunnel on Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway by Awgu Local Government Area against kidnappers.

While at the tunnel which serves as a hide-out and escape route for kidnappers operating in the area, the governor, ordered the immediate demolition of Agbogugu and Isu-Awaa-Agbudu caves to enhance the security of the areas.

The governor was accompanied to the trip by a combined team armed security operatives.

Ugwuanyi also inspected the ongoing construction of a military base on Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway by Umuogbua Ihe, Awgu Local Government Area.

He also directed that the bushes around the tunnel/kidnappers’ den should be cleared immediately.

Governor Ugwuanyi ordered that a joint security patrol team will commence surveillance of the affected areas to ensure maximum security and urged strict compliance with the directives.

The Chairman of Awgu Council, Mr Stanley Okeke, members representing Awgu North and South state constituencies, Jane Eneh and Mr Johnson Chukwuobasi and other Stakeholders were on the Governor’s delegation.
