No fewer than 23 persons have been killed by suspected armed bandits in Sokoto State.
The hoodlums attacked some villages in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Wednesday night.
A source in the locality, said the assailants who wielded sophisticated weapons, stormed the villages at night and started shooting sporadically.
He said, “More than twenty villagers were killed while houses and other properties were destroyed .
“Many others have fled their homes to seek refuge in nearby Communities within Goronyo and Isa Local Government Areas of Sokoto State .”
Police, confirmed the attack,, but declined to ascertain the number of casualties .
Police Public Relations Officer Sokoto State Police Command, Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq said, “The attack took place in Dan Tatsako village.
He however said the number of casualties is yet to be ascertained”.
