The Management of University of Benin (UNIBEN) has invited parents of deceased final year student, Epharaim Imaghodor committed suicide on Sunday evening.

The final year student of the Department of Actuarial Science student who was billed to sit for his carryover examinations today, on Sunday jumped down from 2-storey building from the stairs of the Faculty of Arts and died.

It was gathered that the deceased who was supposed to have graduated before now, but had a spill over.

Spokesman of the University, Michael Osasuyi, disclosed this in an interview with our Correspondent in Benin on Monday.

“The parents have been informed and the university is trying to unravel what happened and to find out if it was actually a suicide attempt”.

“Conflicting information are all over the place, but the University will ascertain all of this with the help of the police”.

“It is unfortunate that something like this has happened in the University”.

“We feel so pained to hear such news that somebody fell front the second floor of the faculty building”.

“The school has frowned again suicide attempt by students. No condition is worth suicide”.

“The information that reached us was that the student was spilling and had two carry over papers to write. He was supposed to write one of the papers today”.

“It may not be unconnected with the issue of carryover, because they are other spill over students around”,he said.

Osasuyi, assured that the police would investigate the case and identify the cause of the student death.

He explained that the student almost had issues with some of his neighbours off Campus before going to the faculty.

He also advised students to always call for help by visiting the university counseling unit,revealing that no matter what it is,there is a way out.

He stated further that parents and relatives should always listen to students when they have a complain to make.

Recall that Christabel Buoro, a 21 year old student of Medical Laboratory Science committed suicide four weeks ago at her hostel located on Plot 4 Uwaifo Lane, off Newton Street, Ekosodin, a sprawling students’ community behind the University main campus of the University.

Reports had it that the late Christabel had consumed substance suspected to be sniper which led to her death.
