The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is set to take stringent measure to recover its licence renewal fees of N4 billion owed by some Broadcast stations in Nigeria.
The Director General of NBC, Dr. Is’haq Modibbo Kawu, said this during an interview with Radio Nigeria.

He lamented the non-compliance in the payment by many stations, stressing that the organization has reached agreement with DAAR Communication/Africa Independent Television, AIT on how to pay its licence renewal fees.
“Even the statutory act of informing NBC six months before expiration of licenses and signification of intention to continue as licensees is willfully ignored by stations”.
“License fees are in arrears; there is no plan by many of these stations to pay while some even have the temerity to write NBC, the regulatory institution, that the amount they are obliged to pay is too much”, he said.
