Insecurity: NYSC members embrace toll-free emergency lines from 9mobile

National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, have welcome plans by 9mobile telecommunications to provide toll-free emergency lines for them.

The toll-free lines would used during distressed situation by security agencies and Corps members.

The 9mobile Executive Director of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs, Abdulrahman Ado, said this during a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director-General, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, in Abuja.

The proposal is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility of the Company.

The NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi, press release said that the 9mobile director also presented a proposal on employment generation for Corps members, which involves E-Learning Digital Skills Centre at the 37 NYSC Orientation Camps.

Adeyemi said, “One of the telecom companies in Nigeria, 9mobile, is to provide toll-free emergency lines for the NYSC as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Company’s director, Ado, said the emergency lines would enable Corps members reach dedicated help lines of the NYSC and security agencies when in distressed situation.

“He also presented a proposal for partnership on employment generation for corps members, which involves the implementation of E-Learning Digital Skills Centre.

The centres will also provide opportunities for interest Corpse members to become business specialists and train them on digital skills.

According to the NYSC DG, Brig Gen Ibrahim “welcome offer of assistance from credible stakeholders, said the empowerment of Corps members through entrepreneurial training was one of the focal points of his policy thrust”.
