The Patron of Buhari youth Organization (BYO) and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Godwin Erhahon, has condemned the involvement of thugs allegedly aided by security agents and some politicians in fighting internal conflict in Edo State chapter of the party.

He blamed the continued intra-party struggle in Edo APC on alleged compromise by some leaders of the party who ought to broker peace between the State governor, Godwin Obaseki and the narional Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole.

He gave the advice in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen at the Weekend in Benin City.

Erhahon, a former chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change, CPC in Edo State, however admonish APC leaders in Edo State “not turn it to a party of brigands.

“A situation whereby a group is now seen fighting internal conflict with armed thugs openly supported by Law Enforcement Agents, party members and Government Officials, is highly embarrassing”.

According to him, “Intra-aparty struggle has so degenerated because leaders who ought to broker peace have since compromised and are now speaking from both sides of their mouths, fueling the crises from both ends.

“Men who lack conscience, commitment, truth and courage but active only where there are enough to eat and drink were better not born!

Erhahon who is also a former Spokesman of Edo APC, lamented that the party victory which 24-members in the State House of Assembly also known as 24/24, “cannot now harmonize the interests of ‘father and his godson’ unabated squabble, has was robbing members of the 7th State House of Assembly peace.

He said the development has widened the gulf between the group of the minority and the the majority of the members in the State Assembly.

“It is saddening that leaders who abandon our poor youths in suffering when it is rosy often know where to scoop them from in hundreds when they are needed to do the dirty jobs which no successful politician would allow his child to do.

He called on genuine progressives in the party to rally round the State governor, Godwin Obaseki to ward-off darts fired to stop his re-election in 2020.

“We must not allow him to dance to the tune of the maddening crowd.

He advised the members-elect of the State House of Assembly who constitute majority not to attempt a winner-take-all without considering the interest of the Governor as a way of confidence-building and harmonization”, he said.

It would be recalled some anti-Oshiomhole’s zealots acting at the behest of a prominent government official had last week, attacked some members-elect of Edo State House ofpmbly including Seidu Oshiomhole representing Etsako West 1 Constituency.
