Witnesses said the woman was said to have pounced on the traffic official simply identified as Osazuwa Osaretin after asking her to take responsibility for flouting traffic laws and regulations at Sapele road by First East Circular road juncture in Benin City.

OSAZUWA OSARETIN’S WOUNDED LEFT ARM

It was gathered that Mrs. Asoro, accompanied with a female believed to be a housewife to another lawmaker, started reigning abuses on the EDSMA official who was in the line of duty.

The argument degenerated, caught the attention of other officials who booked her and impounded her vehicle bearing official number plate of the State government.

It was gathered that the uncivilized conduct of the middle-aged woman put other road users in quandary while the entire Sapele road axis and adjourning roads were convulsed in a traffic snarl during the stand-off.

Asoro’s wife the female friend, were said to have over over powered the EDSTMA officials while Osazuwa who jumped into her car was driven into a military base in Benin.

Sources said, Osazuwa was reportedly further assaulted and had his uniform torn.

He was however let off the and later picked up by a Samaritan who took him to the hospital for medical treatment.

While documentation and further investigation were being conducted at EDSTMA office on Sapele road, some military personnel acting at the behest of the lawmaker who accompanied them, marched into the office, fueling rage.

Consequently, the Managing Director of EDSTMA, Mr. Ade Oloriegbe, began to find a creative way of escape.

The alleged display of lawlessness by the lawmaker and his wife in public has attracted condemnation.

The leadership of Edo State Civil society organizations (EDSCO’s), has demanded for the resignation of the Managing Director of Edo State Management Agency, EDSTMA, the lawmaker, representing Orhionmwon II constituency in the State House of Assembly for defending injustice and Roland Asoro.

A statement that was jointly endorsed by the Coordinator-General of EDOCSO’s, Leftist Omobude Agho and the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Osazee Edigin, on Tuesday night, has said.

It however challenged Oloriegnebe to show proof of payment of fine by the lawmaker or his wife, else, the organization will not hesitate to approach the court to seek redress if the alleged perpetrators are not punished and encourage his Constituents to activate his recall.

“Citizens are being taken to EDSTMA offices helplessly and made to pay fines when they flout traffic laws and regulations, we see no reason the wife of a lawmaker whose husband made same law should be allowed to disobey the law and being aided by her husband with impunity.

“To this end, we giving the MD of EDSTMA, 48 hours to publicly show to Edo people receipt of payment in government coffers by the offender or we shall resist further apprehension of Edo people who violates traffic rules by officials of EDSTMA. Nobody is above the law, moreso, this is coming from the wife of a lawmaker”, he said.

The embattled lawmaker, Roland Osaro who represents Orhiomwon south Constituency in the State House of Assembly and his wife, Mrs. Asoro allegedly evaded the press at at the time of filing this report.
