Don’t betray Sanwo-Olu, Ambode begs Lagosians

Former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has urged Lagosians not to withdraw their support from his successor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He urged them to extend the same level of cooperation he enjoyed while in office him. Former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has urged Lagosians not to withdraw their support from his successor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He urged them to extend the same level of cooperation he enjoyed while in office him.

Ambode’s advice was contained in an emotion-ladden farewell address on Tuesday night shortly before he hand over the Barton of leadership to him.

He however apologised to those he offended by his unpopular policies with the benefit of hindsight, adding that such decisions were taken in the interest of the State.

He revealed that all the decisions he took while in office were taken in “the best interest of our State.

“I urge you to extend same to the next administration of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and ensure that he succeeds. It is in our best interest to do so.

He lauded the electorate for the endless goodwill that has propelled him to achieve many things within a period of four years.

The former governor said: “Even in those tough times, your constructive feedback and patience helped us surmount the challenges and enabled us grow stronger.

He recalled how the State gave him to realise his potentials of becoming an Accountant as a little boy

The former governor, described the State as a home for and a prime destination for tourism, sports, entertainment and culture.

He paid tributes to those who have had the privilege of serving the State in different capacities especially as Governors and the legislature as well as the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to him, “we owe their successes to your prayers, understanding and support. The same courtesy and cooperation that you gave to my predecessors from the first elected Governor of the State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande”.

He also acknowledged the roles and contributions of the national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) to my himself”.
