The Senior Pastor of Refiner’s Fire Ministry incorporated, Pastor Nelson Iguobaro has declared that Christians who seek help in wrong places find it difficult to break the vicious of poverty.
He said this during Easter Sunday service at the headquarters of the church at Isihor, off Benin-Lagos Expressway in Benin where he reminded members of the congregation to be wary of “enemies on the path of progress”.
Iguobaro, who dwelt on the topic: “The power of Christ resurrection”, cited the Bible book of St. Luke Chapter 24 verses 1 to 6 as to illustrate his expression.
He revealed that some followers of Christ had been through avoidable stress in life for seeking salvation at the wrong locations while others either keep wrong acquaintances or engage themselves in unGodly practices such as idolatry and other vices.
Referencing on the Bible book of St. Luke Chapter 25 verse 5 where two Angels in dazzling garments emerged from no where and asked “the women of Galilee” who besieged the tomb of Jesus at dawn, waiting to anoint his dead body and asked amazingly, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?. The angels, also told them that (Jesus) has risen”.
The Cleric revealed that “the stone that was rolled away from the opening of the tomb of Jesus on the third day did not only pave the way for the resurrection of Jesus, but, all those who believe in him and his name to have access to God through the savior, Jesus Christ”.
The Cleric while recalling the prayer of Jesus at Gethsemane in the bible after his betrayal by Judas Iscariot, a disloyal disciple, said, Jesus prayed to Almighty God that if it was his will for the cup of death to passover him.
He explained that God allowed him (Jesus) to go through painful ordeal of crucifixion in fulfilment of “the Prophecy and preparatory for a glorious life in future” for believers.
According to Pastor Iguobaro, “God allowed him to die to redeem mankind to him and bring salvation.
He also added that the stone at tomb of Jesus, represents impossibilities, obstacles, setback, sickness, failure, stagnation etc.
“Sometimes in life, it looks as if God no longer answer prayers…That was what Jesus went through at Gethsemane where some of his disciples – Peter, James and John the sons of Zebedee whom he asked to tarry with him at night, but, they slept off a day before his crucifixion.
“There are some situations in life God will let you go through for a reason, but, He (God) will endow you with the power to go through it.
“It is my prayer that what
that what God will not change in your life, may he give you the strength it triumphantly.
“if Jesus did not end up in the grave, you will not end up in your moment of trials”.
According to him, “the stone was place on Jesus tomb by the Roman army for his Corpse not to be stolen.
“They (women) entered and were puzzled to find that the body of Jesus was not there.
“What was the basis for the angelic question? For these women, anointing his dead body was to keep death at bay, and preserve the corpse from decomposing.
“The greatest event that took place in human history – is the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ. Therefore, it is important to reflect on the place of Easter in the Christian life”, he said.
He explained that Christianity does not represent absence of trials and temptation, clarifying that Jesus went through even worse form of abuse and humiliation when he shared his blood on the cross of Calvary several years ago.
Continuing, he said, “when he (Jesus) was in the flesh, they could arrest him, but, he resurrected, they can no longer hurt him.
“Miracles happen to those who insist and persist. Remember that the women who visited the tomb of Jesus had issues in their hearts, but they persisted and saw the resurrection of Christ.
