A Civil Society Organization, Media Initiative against Injustice, Violence and Corruption, MIIVOC, has drawn the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari and the National leadership of All Progressives Congress, APC, alleging conspiracy by Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha to plunge the State into economic crises over his unbridled hunger for personal triumph.

The Communication Officer of MIIVOC in a statement which was made available to NEWSPAD, said the Executive Director of the group, Dr. Walter Duru made the call at the Weekend in Owerri, Imo State Capital.

He called on President and leaders of APC to call the State Governor whose conduct in public and private now besmirch the reputation of a public office holder, to order for the sake of democracy.

The statement alleged that there were compelling evidence of looting of State resources under Okorocha’s watch at the twilight of his administration.

He quoted Duru as saying that “there will be consequences for the brazen stealing of government property of the State.

“We are concerned over the irresponsible looting of property belonging to the people of Imo State.

“We initially took this with a pinch of the salt, until people were caught on Thursday making away with valuables suspected to be Imo State government property at the Heroes Square, Owerri”.

The statement which called for vigilance, stated that but the swift intervention of youths, saved the day.

“We are reliably informed that a similar thing happened at the State-owned Imo International Conference Center-IICC, where chairs, Air Conditioners and other valuables were also illegally removed”.

The statement also alleged further that “Just two weeks ago, some vehicles belonging to the state government were said to have been recovered somewhere in Abia State, where they were allegedly auctioned”.

But, Police authorities are yet to speak on the comment on the level of investigation regarding the allegations that were made by the rights group.
