The report of sporadic gunshots at Edo State legislators quarters in Benin City, has echoed rage and frustration among residents of the area to scamper for safety.

It was alleged that the hoodlums went berserk after taking liquor and began to fire gunshots, welcoming the arrival of the baby.

The development was said to have incensed the Speaker of the House, Mr. Kabiru Adjoto who called the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danmallam in a telephone to intervene.

It was gathered that the suspended lawmaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Edoror was Celebrating the naming Ceremony of his Child’s at the legislators’ quarters on Ihama road in the State Capital when the shooting occurred on Thursday evening.

It was learnt that the presence security agents who swoop at the hoodlums, normalcy returned to the quarters.

According to the a Staff of the Assembly who craved for anonymity, said: “We were earlier unsettled with the influx of fierce looking men who were said to be guests at the child’s naming Ceremony which took place at Edoror’s residence at the legislators’ quarters.

The source said, “in accordance with parliamentary rules, Hon. Victor Edoror, was not supposed to be at the legislators’ quarters” haven been impeached and suspended 22nd of October, 22, 2018.

“Edoror, “was not supposed to be found within the precinct of the legislative complex and the quarters”, he said.

It was learnt that the Speaker Rt. Hon. Kabiru Adjoto had magnanimously asked that the rules be relaxed as the event had to do with the Celebration of a new born baby…”.

But, in a swift reaction, the suspended legislator, Victor Edoror, representing Esan Central Constituency, alleged that the shooting occurred at the residence of the Speaker of the house.

He denounced the reports that “the hoodlums” acted at his behest during his “Child’s naming” Ceremony.

“It is a desperate move by my accusers to frame me up haven indicated interest to contest the position of the house in the 7th Assembly”, he said.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Danmallam has invited Mr. Victor Edoror to report at Police Headquarters on Monday.

Contacted, the Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, cut a swaths on the issues raised by our Correspondent.

He stated that “If you want any report, come down to the office (Command), please stop disturbing me with your phone calls”.
