Edo State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Emmanuel Agbale, arrangement would fast-track industrialization drive of the State.

He said this during the 2nd Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun – Higher Education Partnership for Sub-Saharan Africa (FUPRE-HEP SSA) knowledge sharing workshop on Sustainable Solutions for Multi scale Biogas Utility as an alternative energy resource held in Edo University Iyamho.

Mr. Agbale said the State government has made huge investment on Science and Technology as well as Technical and Vocational education to actualise the project.

The Commissioner, was represented by Mr. Obobaribajie Aigbona John, an Official in the State Ministry of Education.

He said the search for an alternative source of power arising from epileptic energy supply in most parts of the State, need to be deconstructed.

According to him, Biogas as an alternative source of energy is a mixture of gases produced by the breakdown of organic matters in the absence of oxygen which can be produced from raw materials such as agricultural waste, manure, municipal waste, plant materials, sewage, green waste and food waste.

He said the Ministry of Education will partner with FUPRE/EUI in the areas of Curriculum development and research works.

He also commended FUPRE, and the Royal Academy of Engineering, United Kingdom for initiating the laudable projects which he said was crucial to the economic and Technological development in Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor, Edo University Iyamho, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor while declaring the workshop open, congratulated FUPRE and other collaborating institutions for winning a special grant.

He said FUPRE as Hub University, in collaboration with Edo University Iyamho, Brunel University, London, UK and other designated Universities and Corporate bodies to unequivocally committed to develop and build capacity towards a successful implementation of the “Biogas for Sustainable Energy and Off-Grid Power” project.

Aluyor who was represented by the Deputy VC, Prof. Steve Omodia, assured that the workshop will help to “evaluate all available terms, outcomes and options regarding the FUPRE/EUI-HEP-SSA project”.
