The Enogie (Duke) of Ukhiri village, HRH Aigbe Osayande who was kidnapped at the weekend, has regained his freedom.

A member of his family who crave for anonymity, said members of Osayande family members, friends and well-wishers, have turned the palace of the Septuagenarian to a Mecca of sorts, apparently to identify with him.

The source said that the “Enogie” cannot receive any visitor now.

“But, Security personnel have established their presence at his residence.

“He (the Duke) has been advised to see his doctor immediately.

“You know he (Osayande Osayande) is old). He needs rest please”, but, said, he does not know if the red cap traditional ruler was molested while in kidnappers’ den.

Police authorities in Edo State are yet to speak on the level of investigation to track the hoodlums who were responsible for the heinous crime.

The hoodlums numbering five, were said o have stormed his palace at the village on Benin-Abraka road on Sunday night, shooting sporadically into the air before abducting him from his living room to unknown destination. 

Reports said the hoodlums came with an unregistered vehicle which consequently developed a mechanical upon arriving the scene of crime.

Angered by the development, the armed men, set the car ablaze before leaving the palace of the traditional ruler with his Nissan Sunny car.

It was gathered that the victim was placed at the back seat as they zoomed off, amid tears and watching by family members.

Osayande was allegedly whisked away through the Benin-Abraka road end en route Delta State, according to family sources who sought for anonymity.

The traditional ruler, is a retired Chief superintendent of police from the office of the Assistant Inspector General Of Police, Zone 5.

The hereditary title village head, ascended the throne of his forebear few years ago in accordance with the Benin custom and tradition.
