Kidnapped Newspapers’ sales representative regains freedom

The chairman of Newspapers sales representatives in Edo State who was allegedly abducted by gunmen, has regained his freedom. The family of the victim, Mr. Adeyemi Iyanu, fondly called ‘Ijesha man” by his admirers, was released after an undisclosed amount of money was allegedly paid by his family to effect his release on Monday night.

The chairman of Newspapers sales representatives in Edo State who was allegedly abducted by gunmen, has regained his freedom.

The family of the victim, Mr. Adeyemi Iyanu, fondly called ‘Ijesha man” by his admirers, was released after an undisclosed amount of money was allegedly paid by his family to effect his release on Monday night.

His abductors had opened a back channel of Communication with his terrified wife via a telephone call at the early hours of Monday.

The patience of the gunmen however evaporated, following the inability of his family to raise the sum of N1 million (One Million naira) earlier requested by hoodlums.

Adeyemi who is a sales Representative of one of the national dailies, was allegedly kidnapped on Sunday evening after undergoing torture in the hands of his abductors.

He was whisked along with other commuters who boarded the same commercial vehicle at Ore juncture, a border town in Ondo State, South Western Nigeria.

The vehicle heading to Benin, was allegedly ambushed by the suspected hoodlums who were in search of answers in the wrong places.

The cheering news of his released has triggered excitement among his kinsmen and members, and well wishers who had embarked on marathon prayers to God for his freedom.

But, our Correspondent was yet to ascertain the health condition of Mr. Adeyemi, with a powerful moustache, looking stressed and lugubrious.

In his verified Facebook page, Adeyemi shared on his wall shortly after he was released, reads: “This is Lord doing two days in kidnappers den with serious beating. God is awesome. Back safely by his only grace”.

Since last week debacle caused by the attack and killings of four policemen at Divisional Police station in Afuze, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State in which Eight persons were being held by security operatives in connection with the crime; oceans of ink have been spilled by practising journalists arising from the recent upsurge in crimes rate in the State.
